Somaca/CRL's VE2PLUS2 Two Spindle Vertical Edger gives you added edging capability never before attainable with a two spindle edger. The VE2PLUS2 allows you to place two wheels on each spindle. If, for example, most of your production work consists of 1/4 inch (6 millimeter) flat and seam, and 1/2 inch (12 millimeter)pencil edge, both these wheels can be put on the first spindle. This means you can move from one size, or edge configuration to the next by just using the dials and gauges on the front of the machine. You donít have to do a complete wheel change-over. You gain a tremendous savings in labor and production time. To position wheels on the VE2PLUS2, use the digital position readout at each spindle for quick and accurate setup. When you have to change wheels, all your work can be done from the front of the machine. Once again, this saves you labor time. The VE2PLUS2 is ideal for the small to medium size glass shop that needs machine quality edges, but lacks the production to justify a larger machine. Itís a compact machine, and is designed to edge the most common range of glass thicknesses and sizes. In fact, Somaca/CRLís VE2PLUS2 is almost like having a four spindle machine for the price of a two.

CAPACITY: Glass from 1/8 to 1/2 inch (3 to 12 millimeter) thickness, and from 3-1/2 inch (89 millimeters) in length can be processed. Maximum glass weight is 250 pounds (113 kilograms). Two inch (50.8 millimeters) wide strips over 24 inches 609.6 millimeters) long can also be processed. The machine will produce a polished edge at speeds up to 100 inches (2540 millimeters) per minute.
WHEEL STATIONS: The edger station is equipped with one 3 HP, 3600 RPM spindle assembly, and a mounting hub for 7 inch (177.8 millimeter) diamond wheels. Coolant is recirculated from an auxiliary tank. The main conveyor is variable in speed from 0 to 100 inches (0 to 2540 millimeters) per minute by means of a D.C. gear motor.
CONVEYOR SYSTEM: The glass is conveyed over the wheels by means of a flexible pad conveyor. Seven foot entry/exit conveyors easily support your 100 inch (2540 millimeter) mirrors. The front conveyor pads automatically adjust to the thickness of the glass.
WHEEL ADJUSTMENT: All wheel adjustments are located on the front of the machine. The wheels move up or down by using the lower
graduated handwheel. One turn of the handle is .01 of an
inch. The upper scale moves the wheel in or out. One turn of the handle equals .042 of an inch. Both scales are digital, enabling the machine operator to quickly return to previously used settings.
CONTROLS: All controls, including motor starters are enclosed in a machine mounted electrical control panel built to meet OSHA requirements, and UL approval. Load indicating ammeters are furnished for spindles. Wiring for 3 phase, 60
cycle, 208 or 230 volts. Single phase, 220V machine may be
used with the optional phase converter.
WHEELS: Uses a 7 inch (178 millimeter) O.D. diamond wheel, and 8 inch (203.2 millimeter) O.D. polishing wheel (not furnished with machine) for 1/8 to 1/2 inch (3 to 12 millimeter) thick glass. Two wheels can be installed on each spindle.
UTILITIES: Electrical, four motors, total 5.8 HP, for 3 phase, 60 cycle, 230 volt power. Uses 25 amps.
